Airtel subscribers irked as network problems persist

Airtel services across Mumbai and Pune were disrupted on Tuesday morning after a fire broke out at the company’s automated switching centre in Malad.

Though the telecom operator re-routed the traffic to other switching centres, the subscribers’ worries were far from over.

“The services continue to remain dodgy. The connectivity too isn’t great. My work has suffered a lot due to this glitch. I plan to change my service provider,” said Sourav Mukherjee, a banker.

Many subscribers were unable to make or receive calls, send or receive messages, or use the internet, till the time the copy was filed on Friday.

“There is no improvement in the services. It is difficult to make calls. The internet services , it seems, are permanently down. I have no choice but to use my colleagues’ mobile phones to make urgent calls,” said Ranganathan J, a media professional.

The company had apologised to subscribers in a press statement issued on Tuesday.
