The school authorities have asked its students to seek admission in other institutes from the upcoming academic year, as it plans to shift to an international board. Aggrieved parents gathered on the school premises on Monday to protest the decision.

“Last month, we were informed that the school is planning to shift to an international board,” said a parent, whose child is studying in Class 9. “On Monday, we were shocked when the authorities told us they were shutting the SSC-school entirely and we should admit our children elsewhere.”

Angered by the decision, parents sought help from activists of political parties, who met the authorities on Monday afternoon. “After meeting with them, the management has agreed to reconsider their decision and inform us in two days,” said another parent.

The school principal, refusing to be named, confirmed they had asked students from Classes 3 and 9 to leave. “The management has asked the students to leave, I cannot comment further on this issue,” she said.

BD Phadtare, deputy director of education, Mumbai division, said: “No school can switch boards without prior permission to parents and the education department. We have not received any requests from this school,” he said.
