Pro-Maratha organisation Maratha Mahasangh has threatened to block the release of the Mahesh Manjrekar-directed film for its defamatory title. Reacting to the threat Manjrekar, on his visit to Pune for film promotion, said that he would not change the title.

Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho is the second film in a week to face threat before its release. Last week, Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh forced Avdhoot Gupte to postpone Zenda’s release and also ask the producer to change necessary references.

On Sunday, Gupte said he would drop the scenes that the Ranes did not approve of.

But Manjrekar took a firm stand. “There is nothing wrong in the title of my film. The publicity material has already been circulated and therefore I cannot change the title now.”

Maratha Mahasangh president Shashikant Pawar said at a press conference on Sunday that his organisation would not allow the movie to open in theatres this week (on January 15).

Education Minister Balasaheb Thorat too has expressed his disappointment over the title. “The title of the film is not something liked by (any) decent person. Makers could have given another name. This is my individual opinion,” Thorat said in Latur.
