Another pipe leak in Sobo, 100% water cut on Saturday

The incidents have taken place at Nana Chowk in south Mumbai, affecting supply to the area.

“We will repair the third leakage on Saturday with prior intimation to citizens, to avoid inconvenience,” said Ramesh Bambale, civic hydraulic engineer.

As a result, there will be no water in the Tardeo supply zone, which consists of Haji Ali, Tulsiwadi, Sane Guruji Marg, Tardeo Road, Slater road as well as the BYL Nair hospital, Kasturba Hospital. Even railway stations like Grant Road, Mumbai Central and Mahalaxmi will see no water supply on Saturday.

Civic water department officials said that to repair the Tansa (West) pipeline, they had to divert water supply to the Tansa (East) line. The additional supply led to excess pressure, which resulted in corrosion and a burst.

But places like Dadar, Worli, Prabhadevi, Mumbai Central, Tardeo and Byculla will continue to get water through the 120-year-old pipeline.
