The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has withdrawn approval to the pharmacy and polytechnic institute managed by the Parshavnath Charitable Trust in Thane. The trust also manages Parshavnath College of Engineering, which was mired in controversy a few years back with allegations of mismanagement of funds and inadequate facilities.

The AICTE withdrew the approval because the two institutes did not have the occupation certificates from the municipal corporation. The AICTE had issued a show-cause notice to the institute last year listing the shortcomings including technical ones.
The institutes, therefore, cannot take fresh admissions. However, the AICTE will allow the students from the two institutes to seek admission from other affiliated colleges. The process is already underway.
