The 1,164-metre long King’s Circle flyover will now be 1,454-m long after the merger.

The cost of merging the two flyovers is estimated at Rs 30 crore. The merger is expected to be complete soon.

“The merger of the two flyovers is expected to reduce traffic woes considerably. It will reduce travel time for the north and south-bound motorist and will also help in saving petrol expenses,” MMRDA spokesperson Dilip Kawathkar said.

The Aurora flyover is on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road near the King’s Circle railway bridge.

The King’s Circle flyover was supposed to start at Ruia College and was to end at Maheshwari Udyan. But with the merger, it will now end close to King’s Circle railway bridge.

With the completion of this merger, traffic between the Island city and the suburbs will be improved as the MMRDA is already constructing flyovers near Sion Hospital, King’s Circle (Maheshwari Udyan), Tulpule Chowk and Hindmata Junction.
