The Sharad Rao-led Mumbai Automen's Union has decided to postpone the proposed rally on Tuesday. However, its rival union now plans to go ahead and carry out the agitation a day before.
Rao had called for a protest at the transport commissioner's office in Bandra to demand rickshaw permits for auto drivers who have badges and fare revision, among other things.
"We have postponed our agitation.. Instead we will take out morcha on April 16, the first day of our indefinite strike," said Shashank Rao from Mumbai Automen's Union.
However, the Mumbai Rickshawmen's Union' will continue with its plan to carry out a rally on Monday. "We are going to protest outside the transport commissioner's office. Over 400 drivers will participate," said Thampy Kurian, secretary.
A delegation will submit its memorandum of demands to the transport department.
