“We will be holding the Jan Jagran programmes from August 9 till August 21,” BJP state president Sudhir Mungattiwar announced after the sate executive meeting of the party in Mumbai on Saturday.

The BJP is going to fight the upcoming civic election in alliance with its two-decade-old partner the Shiv Sena and a new entrant, the Republican Party of India (RPI).

In the last municipal elections, the party had fought on 69 seats while the Sena had put up candidates on 158 seats. Both the parties will now have to give up some seats to the RPI.

The BJP is now planning to send cadres to each household and ask citizens to sign an oath of not voting for the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) combine.

The party claimed that Munde would be a part of the agitations. Munde, however, choose to remain silent throughout the interaction.

Venkaiah Naidu, convener for the party in the state, claimed that the country should not go on with foreign minister level talks with Pakistan that will be conducted on July 27. “There is no use holding talks with Pakistan until it stops aiding, abetting and funding terror groups,” Naidu said.

“Condolence for the dead and compensation for those who survive seems to be the policy of the government. This can not be the policy to tackle terror,” he added.
