"Bad governance combined with mismanagement has led to a crisis situation in the state. In the last 21 months, this is the sixth power tariff hike. The unprofessional and non-transparent process of procuring electricity for the state is adding on to the common man's burden," said state BJP president Sudhir Mungantiwar.

"With our campaign, we plan to voice these issues. We will cover all talukas in the state."

The state cabinet had, on Wednesday, cleared a tariff hike proposed by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC), which is to be implemented with retrospective effect from August 1.

The price hike will affect 1.5 crore residential power consumers in the state.
