Question paper sets for Thursday's final year Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) exam were swapped ahead of the 3pm exam, for the second time in two days. This was after the University of Mumbai decided to take precautionary measures following Wednesday's paper leak.
The university informed all 58 exam centres not to open the question paper bundles they had already received for the Operational Research paper and to wait instead for a different paper set. This sixth semester 60-mark paper is a compulsory paper, with 9,538 students appearing for the two-hour paper in the revised syllabus.
On Wednesday, following a tip-off of a possible paper leak, university officials decided to replace the International Finance paper after they found that the leaked paper code and the actual paper code matched.
The same procedure of replacing the paper was followed on Thursday, as a sort of "mock drill", said officials, and not as a reaction to any leak.
The university has asked all exam centres to return question paper bundles of the original paper set for Thursday.
"We decided last night itself we would do this as a precautionary measure," said Naresh Chandra, pro vice chancellor of the university. "It was an exercise we decided to undertake and such an exercise may happen in the future too. We want to be alert and prepared. Students should have confidence in the system."

{{/usCountry}}At some centres, the exam papers reached after 3pm, and the university said students should be given extra time.
However, some students complained that this was not the case. "We should have got 10 minutes extra as the paper came late," said a student who appeared for the exam at Hinduja College on Charni Road. "I could have attempted a few more questions in that time."
Aside from Wednesday's leaked paper, a fifth semester paper was leaked last November, following which BMS students had to give a re-exam. BMS students are fed up of the endless problems, but conceded that the university was trying to make amends. "Why are all the papers getting leaked?" said one student. "But at least the university is doing something instead of making us sit for re-exams."
