The boy, a student of CD Barfiwala High School in Andheri, was allegedly pushed by a student while boarding the bus around 1.15pm. As he stood up, his bag got stuck in the rear wheel of the bus, which had started moving. School authorities said Tayyani’s legs came under the rear wheel.

“He drank water, ate a few biscuits and responded to all my questions. He was limping and though he was scared, there was no bleeding from his legs,” said Ram Kamble, a teacher who administered first aid.

School authorities said they informed Tayyani’s mother, who rushed him to Venus Hospital. At 7pm, the doctors sent him for some tests. “As the doctors at the hospital could not identify his injuries, they sent him for medical investigations to a nearby laboratory. Unfortunately, he died on the way,” Kamble said.

The school claimed the school bus had all safety measures in place and had a conductor and a bus attendant inside the bus when the accident took place.
