A Matunga-based builder was booked for illegal construction on a reserved plot in Mahim. The Mahim police registered the case following a complaint by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority. An SRA sub-engineer registered the complaint under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act and accused the developers of illegal construction on the plot.

While police are yet to make any arrests, the accused in the case Gharandaj Builders will be moving an application in court seeking regularization of the structure.
According to the complaint by Mohammed Sheikh, sub-engineer, SRA, Gharandaj Builders and K.R. Rege and Associates have illegally constructed four additional floors on a sale building without a relevant commencement certificate.
Ashish Kulkarni of Gharandaj builders said that the delay in the development was because four residents were creating problems in vacating the plot. “In a response to the FIR, we will be filing a petition for regularisation in the structure.”
