A building contractor identified as Avinash Mhatre (39) shot himself at his residence at Turbhe Village on Monday night.

The police said a family dispute led him to commit suicide. A resident of Sector 22 near Sai Baba Temple, Mhatre, a proprietor of Shree Enterprises, shot himself with his licensed revolver at 11 pm.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Dudhe said, “We got a call from MGM Hospital informing us that Mhatre had been brought to the hospital. He died at around midnight. The bullet was lodged in his head. There was no suicide note.”
Police sources said Mhatre had an altercation with his wife following which he took the extreme step. Sources also said he had bought a car worth Rs 15 lakh just a day earlier. Mhatre is survived by his wife and son.
