One by one, he confronted various officials, asking them when his taxi would be returned to him. The accident has cost Patel his family’s only source of income.

“I have a daughter who is doing her graduation in science, and a son in Class 12. The taxi that was badly damaged in the accident was my only source of income and I had bought it just a year ago. They have seized it and sent it to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for inspection,” said Patel. “The procedures will take long and then there will be the repairs. I do not know fromwhere I will gather enough money for all this.”

“Now, with a broken leg, I will not be able to work for a few months at least. My family is dependent on me and this accident has rendered me completely helpless, and for no fault of my own,” he added.
