Case against 8 who attacked RTI activist

Following the attack on a Right to Information (RTI) activist, the Goregaon police, on Saturday, registered a case against eight unidentified persons after they attacked an activist at his Goregaon office.

Following the attack on a Right to Information (RTI) activist, the Goregaon police, on Saturday, registered a case against eight unidentified persons after they attacked an activist at his Goregaon office.

Police said around 4pm, the accused barged into Sulaiman Bhimani’s office, located in the Somani Gram area of Goregaon, armed with sticks. They attacked Bhimani and damaged the furniture and electronic equipment in his office. The activist sustained minor injuries.

“We are in the process of tracing the whereabouts of the accused. We will scan CCTV footage to identify the men,” said Arun Jadhav, senior inspector, Goregaon police. The police have registered a case of rioting, criminal intimidation and assault under the IPC.
