“We have almost exhausted this option but we failed to turn up with anything,” the source said.

The investigators have also tracked down almost all the vehicles damaged in blasts. “About 10 two wheelers from Zaveri Bazar and Opera house are yet to be traced back to their owners – in some cases the owners have left to various cities in Gujarat, some have sold off their vehicles, and in some cases the RTO doesn’t have a complete address,” he added.

Another officer said that investigators would track the movements of some absconding Indian Mujahideen members, including Abu Rashid, Mohsin Choudhary, Abdus Subhan Quereshi, Zabuddin Ansari and Rahil Shaikh who are reportedly familiar with Mumbai and can arrange to carry out such an operation. He added that all these suspects’ family members denied contact with their wards when questioned.

“We suspect it is the Azamgarh module as they make use of easily available materials - they avoid using RDX so Pakistan cannot be blamed.”
