‘Choppers can save lives’

City corporators have come up with an unique demand to ensure speedy treatment to the injured at Ganpati immersion sites. They now want the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to hire helicopters to take people to the hospital.

City corporators have come up with an unique demand to ensure speedy treatment to the injured at Ganpati immersion sites. They now want the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to hire helicopters to take people to the hospital.

Siddhesh Kanade, 24, was electrocuted while Satish Patil, 29, drowned during the Ganpati immersions at Girgaum Chowpatty on September 22.

Rajhans Singh, opposition leader in the civic body, said: “The BMC spends crores of rupees for immersion preparations. A helicopter should be kept on the spot as emergency service.”
