The Opposition in the state legislative council on Tuesday asked the state government to look into a news report published by Mail Today, claiming that Pune businessman Hasan Ali had routed money for three former chief ministers of Maharashtra.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena alliance demanded that the names of the three former CMs be revealed.
“The report says that Ali told his investigators that he had good relations with these former chief ministers and, on their behalf, he had brought money into the share market. Who are these three former chief ministers?” asked BJP MLC and opposition leader in the state council Pandurang Phundkar.
Quoting the report, Phundkar said Ali told the investigators that a substantial portion of the thousands of crores in his Swiss Bank account and other accounts belonged to top Indian politicians and bureaucrats, including the three former CMs.
But state school education minister, Rajendra Darda, on behalf of the state government, asked the council: “What is the authenticity of such a report? Are these statements based on any government document? It is not fair.”
Following a walkout from the Opposition, council chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh asked Darda to probe into the report and check its authenticity.
