The Central Railway (CR) authorities have requested the state government to close the level crossing at both Chunabhatti and Diva stations to improve the punctuality of train operations in the suburban section.

Both harbour and main line suburban commuters have been complaining about delays caused to the trains due to the long halt before Chunabhatti and Diva.
CR general manager (GM) Subodh Jain on Sunday said that he had addressed a letter to the state chief secretary seeking permission to keep the Chunabhatti and Diva level crossing gates closed during peak hours, so that services in the region could run smoothly.
"Both these level crossings witness a great deal of road traffic and cause huge delays to trains, especially during peak hours. We have requested the state government to divert traffic from these level crossings during morning and evening peak hours, so that we can run services smoothly," said Jain.
