CM Fadnavis gets a thumbs up from Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi batted for public participation as he laid the foundation stone for the Ambedkar memorial at Indu Mill on Sunday. He urged people from other states to help make the memorial a place of inspiration and peace.

Modi, who slammed the previous Congress-led governments at the Centre and state for the delay in making the land available, said it was his good fortune to lay the foundation stone for the memorial.

“It should be a dense forest-like place with thousands of trees. Maharashtra has more than 40,000 villages and I want each one of the villages to plant at least one tree and take care of their survival by contributing a sum of Rs11,000. Similarly, people from all other states should participate in constructing the memorial,” he said.

The Prime Minister addressed a rally of more than 10,000 political workers at BKC after laying the foundation stone for the memorial at Indu Mill in Dadar. He also launched two Metro corridors, one between Dahisar and DN Nagar and another between Dahisar (East) and Andheri (East) by unveiling their designs.

“We must appreciate the efforts of the government that has fought drought by successfully implementing the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan, which has helped bring large tracts of land under irrigation. This has been done without a relief package from the Centre,” he said.
