A day after deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar (who controlled the bank) launched an attack on the Congress, a veteran Congressman from the cooperative sector hit back. PK Anna Patil, who controls JP Narayan cooperative spinning mill in Nandurbar district and whom Pawar had accused of defaulting on payments to the bank, said on Friday that the mill did not owe any money to the bank.

“In fact, MSC Bank gave a rebate of more than Rs 50 lakh last year for regular payments,” said Patil. “My mill has been given a 5-star rating by the Centre and state agencies.”

Pawar, meanwhile, said a fair probe would reveal who was responsible for the bank’s state of affairs. Speaking at Indori village in Maval taluka in Pune, he said government-appointed administrators should come out with the facts. He said he expects bank administrators to work transparently and fairly.
