The Sakinaka police on Saturday arrested the fifth accused in connection with the double murder of two brothers at their residence on May 29. The 39-year-old accused, Sunil Sharma, was remanded in police custody till June 8.

“Sharma was arrested near his Sakinaka residence on Saturday. He has at least three previous cases of assault against him,” said S Dhanedar, senior inspector, Sakinaka police station. The police said the sixth accused, 40-year-old Rajesh Sharma, is still absconding. “We have learnt that Rajesh is in the city and a team is trying to locate him,” Dhanedar said.
Police said the murders took place on Tuesday night around 10.30 pm when six family members, including a woman, barged into Jeetender Singh’s residence and attacked his sons, Avinash and Ashish. Singh was also assaulted, but he survived, while his sons succumbed.
The attack was in retaliation for the arrest of one of the accused following a police complaint by the brothers.
The Sakinaka police have so far booked five of the accused for double murder.
