Sources in the crime branch said that the duo was summoned to the crime branch on Wednesday and their statements were recorded as witnesses to the meeting organised by Vinod at Uma Palace Bar and Restaurant at Mulund on June 7. The duo was present at the meeting, which, the crime branch claimed, had been organised to identify Dey before two of his shooters.

Crime branch sources said the doctor, who had been suspended several times in the past and is presently posted outside Mumbai, is known for his proximity to Vinod and also knew Dey well.

Joint commissioner of police, Himanshu Roy, confirmed the development.
