Two boats were recovered found along different parts of the Thane creek near Kanamavar Nagar in Vikhroli on Monday.

Following information from local fisherfolk, police had found the first boat measuring 18 feet by 3.8 feet. In the evening, another boat measuring 40 feet by 15 feet was found abandoned inside the creek.

After the media reported news of the boats, a person has now approached the police claiming to be the owner of the 40-foot- long boat and said that it had been stolen on Sunday.

“A person from Bhiwandi approached us claiming that the 40-foot-long, abandoned boat belongs to him and that it was stolen from Reti Bundar in Mumbra. We are, however, in process of verifying papers before handing it over to him,” said a senior police officer adding, “We will also investigate how it was stolen.”

However, the police are yet to make any concrete headway in tracing the origin of the first boat.
