A special CBI court on Thursday rejected an application filed by two accused in the alleged Adarsh housing society scam for de-freezing of their bank accounts.

A special CBI court on Thursday rejected an application filed by two accused in the alleged Adarsh housing society scam for de-freezing of their bank accounts.

The court also shot down an application filed by the society seeking the original documents it had submitted to the investigating agency.

"The court rejected the application filed by PV Deshmukh and Jairaj Phatak seeking de-freezing of their accounts. The court has also turned down the society's plea seeking certain documents," said special public prosecutor Bharat Badami.

The society had sought originals of the documents it had given to the investigating agency for scrutiny. The court rejected the plea as the special prosecutor argued that the case is under investigation and that CBI officers are still scrutinising the documents. The court, however, allowed the society to make photocopies of the documents.

The 31-storeyed Adarsh housing society building in Colaba landed in controversy after it was alleged that several politicians, three former defence service chiefs, and bureaucrats have cornered land and flats meant for Kargil war heroes.
