The Hindustan Times had reported on Monday that the civic authorities and the CR were passing the buck on replacing the missing height barriers protecting the bridge on two Ambedkar roads, parallel to Bhau Daji road.

Meanwhile the HT has also found that one more road — Takandas Kataria Road near Matunga Labour camp goes under the same railway bridge. The height barrier on this road is knocked off and is lying on the road unattained.

There are no records about this height barrier with the Matunga traffic police station or the CR.

“The Wadala to Bandra line is sensitive and if the over dimensional consignment bangs into the bridge, it will affect commuters. Hence, we have decided to repair the barriers,” said VA Malegaonkar, chief PRO, CR.

“They should also provide the rumble strips or speed breakers on the Ambedkar road for safety purpose,” said Malegaonkar.

The CR, however, hasn’t received any reply. “We are not the only body responsible for the safety of the bridge. It’s a collective effort of the CR and the road authorities,” he added.
