The crime branch, in its hunt to nab those involved in the three bank robberies in Mumbai over the past few months, has got its hands on two other gangs of robbers operating in the city.

The crime branch has arrested ten people from various parts of Mumbai and seized bikes, SIM cards and weapons from them.
According to Crime Branch Unit X officials, the first gang comprised seven people and was headed by one Munda Swami Thevar alias Murthy.
In addition to previous crimes, the Murthy gang has nine fresh cases registered against it in 2010 at various police stations in central and north Mumbai.
Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police (crime), said, “We have seized three motor bikes, choppers and numerous SIM cards from them. They planned their strikes down to the last detail and conducted a reconnaissance of the area numerous times before striking.”
The second gang includes a trio who has several cases of robbery and attempt to murder against them.
Crime branch officials added that the trio, headed by one Sikandar Abdul Khan, had cases under the Arms Act and other stringent acts. Roy added, “All three were involved in a Rs 28-lakh robbery that took place in Gandhidham in Gujarat.”
