“This is a rather complicated case. We will file a complaint against the party concerned once we have all the documents and evidence at hand,” said senior inspector Sanjay Diwadkar of Gamdevi police station.

“The matter is under police investigation and we wont be able to comment on the case right now,” said Dr S Mohanty, medical director, Jaslok Hospital.

Deepti Makhijani, who was an employee at Google India in Hyderabad, was diagnosed with blood cancer on August 9 and was undergoing chemotherapy at Jaslok Hospital. Her parents alleged that she was given blood from the wrong group causing her death on December 8. The reason cited by the hospital was complete organ failure.

“Her blood group was A+. But she was transfused with blood of the B+ group on October 5. She suffered serious body pain after the transfusion. But the doctors neglected her condition and increased the dose of painkillers and antibiotics,” alleged Narendra Makhijani, Deepti’s father.
