Developer stops motorists from using Bhakti Park Road

Motorists passing through Bhakti Park road in Wadala to take the Eastern Freeway were inconvenienced on Thursday after they were stopped by security guards stationed by the Anik Development Corporation saying the road was private property.

Anik Development Corporation is reportedly a part of Ajmera Group of Companies, which is constructing residential buildings in the Bhakti Park area.

Motorists had to return to take alternative roads to reach their destination.

The corporation posted many banners at various locations on the road warning motorists that they should not use Bhakti Park road to take the freeway.

Interestingly, MMRDA has installed signs at Bhakti Park road showing how to get to south Mumbai using the freeway.

“My vehicle was stopped by security guards, so I had to take a U-turn and take Ambedkar Road instead. If this is private area, why has MMRDA installed the signs,” said a motorist.

Anik Development Corporation defended its action citing security issues.

MMRDA additional commissioner Ashwini Bhide said “This road cannot be termed private and we have approached the civic agency to take appropriate action. In addition, we have requested Ajmera Group to allow motorists till December this year.”
