A crowd of 30,000 spectators, including ministers, industrialists and celebrities will be present for the World Cup final at the stadium on Saturday.

The stadium has been covered with a network of cameras that will be linked to the control center, where top police officials, firemen and officials from the state government disaster team will monitor activities.

On Thursday, the Mumbai fire brigade inspected the venue and prohibited the use firecrackers.

“The use of firecrackers within 50m of the stadium has been prohibited,” said chief fire officer, Uday Tatkare. The fire brigade along with the police conducted a mock drill inside the stadium. Fire officials said if a fire breaks out, the wet riser system installed in the stadium will act in less than a minute. A network of cameras will also monitor the entire building. In case an accident occurs, the control room will be alerted immediately. “Over 130 firemen and 10 fire en gines will be deployed outside the stadium,” said a fire official.

“They will have to bank on private tankers for their water supply,” said a civic official.

The civic body has deployed over 100 staff members to clean the roads a day before and on the day of the finals in two shifts.
