Set to hit the shelves next week, Crickematics is the story of a cricket-crazy schoolboy who is not good at mathematics, prompting his coach to explain complicated Math problems to him using elements of the game.

Part of the ‘Will You Read With Me’ campaign launched by Karadi Tales, the audio-book section of the Amar Chitra Katha group, it sees Dravid join the likes of actor Naseeruddin Shah, lyricist Gulzar and singer Usha Uthup, all of whom have narrated tales for the series.

“Initially, Dravid declined, saying he was not very good with voice modulation,” said Narayan Parasuram, MD of Karadi Tales. “However, his sons motivated him to take up the job.”

During recording, says Parasu-ram, Dravid drew on his own childhood and memories of how his mother would coax him to solve arithmetic problems after his practice sessions.
