Driver arrested for rash driving

Two women and their children got injured as a speeding Honda City hit them at Santacruz (West) on Wednesday. The driver has been arrested for rash and negligent driving.

Two women and their children got injured as a speeding Honda City hit them at Santacruz (West) on Wednesday. The driver has been arrested for rash and negligent driving.

The incident occurred when Branali Jana, 21, her daughter Reetika, 3, Murjina Shaikh, 26, her son Minajul, 5, were on their way to the Rose Manor School at Central Avenue Road.

"Suddenly, the car hit us from behind. We are glad the kids have not suffered major injuries," said Branali, a housewife.

While Reetika sustained injuries on her leg and face, Minajul sustained a head injury. The mothers sustained minor bruises on their arms. Minajul attended his school after the incident.

"The driver, Sunil Kumar Gupta, has been arrested. We are awaiting his medical reports to ascertain whether he was drunk," said Sudhir Kudalkar, police inspector, Santacruz police.
