Drunk driver runs down 3 teens

A man who was under the influence of alcohol lost control over his vehicle on Shivneri Hospital Road and hit three girls at Ulhasnagar on Friday night.

Of the three injured, two sustained heads and facial injuries and one was discharged after being given first aid. Names of the injured girls are Sheron Pillai, 16, Jaasi Joseph, 16, and Sherin Torane, 16.

They were returning from their tuitions when the incident took place.

The police have arrested the driver Sudhir Gupta.

Police inspector, Balkrishna Patil of the Vithalwadi police station said, "The driver, who was drunk lost control over the steering and hit the girls who were walking on the road." The police sent Gupta for a medical test to ascertain whether he was drunk while driving and have also seized his car.
