DY Patil stadium sealed for IPL semis

While the stadium has been hosting IPL matches for the last 3 years, the security this time is unprecedented in terms of the personnel number and the security measures taken.

The stadium was sealed at 2 pm with entry restricted to valid photo identity holders only.

Police Commissioner Gulabrao Pol briefed hundreds of police officers and security personnel gathered at the stadium on Tuesday morning.

Pol said, "We conducted a complete rehearsal of our operations in the morning. The Bomb Disposal Squad, sniffer dogs and State Reserve Police are already on the job scanning each and every area. Officers and personnel of the State Intelligence Department (SID) and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) are involved in parallel security arrangements." Commandos of the Quick Response Team too were in place looking after the players' security.

Denying that routine police work has been disturbed in the city, Pol said, “The requisite staff required for police stations are in place. No work will suffer."
