Engineering student ends life

A 19-year-old girl committed suicide at her Kashish Park residence in Wagle Estate, Thane (West) on Monday. Susamma Kurian reports.

A 19-year-old girl committed suicide at her Kashish Park residence in Wagle Estate, Thane (West) on Monday.

Swati Pawar, who was a studying engineering in a college in Vidyavihar was at home alone. It was her mother who later found her body.

“She committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan with a dupatta. The cause behind the suicide is not known yet as her family is not in a position to speak,” said police inspector (crime) S G Jawale.

The police suspect that she might have been frustrated because she was unwell.

“We have learnt that she had been not been keeping well. She was suffering from stomach ailments, due to which she was frustrated,” said senior police inspector B.R. Choudhary. Pawar’s body has been sent for a post-mortem to the Thane Civil Hospital.
