'Expect more rain over next 2 days'

“The trough off the coast had moved north of its normal position. It has now come back to its normal position resulting in rain across the city,” said VK Rajeev, director, western region, IMD.

While south Mumbai recorded 13 mm rainfall, the suburbs experienced more rainfall at 21.4 mm. “There is good cloud cover over the Mumbai and the Konkan coasts as well as the interiors of Maharashtra. The winds are strong and are bringing along a lot of moisture,” said Rajeev. “There has been a general monsoon revival across the peninsula.”

Though humidity levels were high at 95% in Colaba and 83% in Santacruz, the rain reduced temperatures. The maximum temperature in south Mumbai was two degrees below normal, at 29 degrees Celsius wh0ile the suburbs experienced normal temperature at 30 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures at Colaba and Santacruz were 27 degrees Celsius.
