The state’s tourism and cultural affairs department has decide to hike the annual pre screening fees for such events from 25 to 50 per cent.

Everything from magic shows, dandiya programmes, plays, live orchestra, musical programmes will see a hike in this one time fee.

All such programmes need a certification from the state stating that the show is fit for public viewing. In most cases, this hike is unlikely to pinch your pocket.

For instance, entertainment shows organised in hotels and gymkhanas to large audiences like music concerts will now have to pay a fee of Rs 5,000 from the earlier Rs 2,500.

Similarly, one day programmes organised in hotels for a day on events like Diwali, New Year’s will have to pay up Rs 1000 for every such show.

“The hike is not major. In majority of the cases, there will be no impact on the consumer,’’ said a bureaucrat on condition of anonymity.

The government order issued on Tuesday says that the revenues from this will be collected under education, sports and cultural affairs head. The state expects a revenue of around Rs 10 crore from such fees.
