The government’s plan to impose a 10-20% hike on ticket prices (those above Rs250) has caused outrage among Bollywood producers. At a meeting held on Wednesday evening, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, who is also the president of the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Program Producers (AMPTPP), said that a final verdict regarding the issue will only come out on Thursday.

“AMPTPP consists of 80-90% active producers. In the meeting topics such as added service tax and no offset on the copyright were touched upon. We cannot come to a conclusion until the meeting with the Film & Television Producers Guild of India Ltd takes place.”
Commenting on the possibility of a protest or strike, Nadiadwala said that it was to premature to discuss such a move. “We have already sent one presentation to the finance ministry. We have to come up with a logical solution for this problem and will wait for the next meeting.”
The meeting with the Film & Television Producers Guild of India Ltd., of which Mukesh Bhatt is the president, will be conducted at 4pm on Thursday.
