The Ghatkopar police on Sunday arrested four youngsters for allegedly murdering the vice-president of Bhatwaadi unit of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on June 10.

According to the police, the accused had a long-standing rivalry with the deceased, Mangesh Ghadge, 28. Ghadge’s associate Rajaram Sakpal, 31, sustained injuries in the attack.
The accused identified as Rupesh Khopane, Nilesh Mahadik, Santosh Kharwa and Symond Fernandes were under the influence of alcohol on Friday night, said the police. Ghadge and Sakpal, came across them in the Ramjee Mahanagar area and got into an argument, the police added.
“Eye-witnesses said the accused repeatedly stabbed Ghadge with a sharp object, before fleeing the spot. Sakpal, too, suffered injuries but is out of danger,” said inspector R Kothmire from Ghatkopar police station.
