Passengers at the Mumbai airport will now be frisked while entering the terminal and their baggage will be scanned at the entrance. Acting on a recent security order from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, the city airport, on Thursday, became the first in the country to implement the security scanners at entry gates.

The airport operator’s press release stated that the frisking and baggage scanning at the entrance would be carried out randomly. The airport has installed seven X-ray baggage scanners and four explosive trace detectors.
Until now, passengers only had to show a photo identity card and tickets to enter the airport.
