Forty-five-year old Shraddha Jadhav became the fifth woman in the history of the civic corporation to occupy the place of the first citizen of the nation’s commercial capital.

Jadhav, a resident of Parel, is currently serving her fourth term in the civic body as a corporator. She was first elected in 1992.
Known for her elegant dressing, especially her crisp cotton sarees, Jadhav has earned a reputation of being an articulate councillor.
A mother of two boys---Pawan (25) and Govind Sagar (16)—Jadhav came to Mumbai from Sangameshwar in Konkan as a novice.
She learnt her first political lessons from her father-in-law, Mukund Jadhav, who was a corporator. Jadhav is one of the richest corporators in the civic body. Her family owns Manohar decorators and a travel agency, which is headed by her husband Sridhar.
Jadhav has served on the crucial standing and improvement committees of the civic body apart from heading the gardens and market committees, and also the women and child welfare committee.
