The BJP on Thursday amended its constitution to permit a party president to hold two consecutive three-year terms.

This is being seen as a move to pave the way for the extension of party president Nitin Gadkari’s tenure.

The RSS has been keen on letting him be at the helm of the party till the conclusion of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

“The whole house supported the resolution, which was passed by a voice vote,” said party national spokesperson JP Nadda.
