The VP Road police station arrested a wanted gangster who had been extorting money from a restaurant manager on Monday.

Lakshman Krushna Karan (31) alias Bawajia, allegedly has ties with the Pandav Putra gang. According to the police, Bawajia had been demanding Rs20,000 from Sayyed Ahmed, restaurant manager at Rohan restaurant in Nagpada.
“On February 4, he even threatened to kill Ahmed him if he was not given the money. He made the threats using a gun while his accomplice Hassan stood outside,” said Rajendra Chavan, senior police inspector of VP Road police station.
“We had intelligence that he would be coming to Edenwala store on VP Road. That’s where our officers nabbed him. His accomplice Hassan fled and we are still searching for him,” said Chavan.
The magistrate court remanded Bawajia to police custody till February 19.
