The state government will have to decide on sanction of prosecution of officers within six months of them having received the proposal from the investigating agency.

The Bombay High Court on Friday directed the state government to take no more than six months on deciding whether the government officer should be prosecuted or not.
It also granted four weeks to the state to decide on the 77 cases sent by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for sanction of prosecution.
Earlier during the hearing on Tuesday, the high court had granted only two days to decide on the sanction.
On Friday, five-year-old cases pending sanction were pointed out to the court in which officers were even promoted. “Don’t defer your (government) decision till their retirement,” said Justice Bilal Nazki.
