The University of Mumbai will finally declare the Masters in Commerce (MCom) results this week, four months after the exam ended. But it will be declared in parts as per various specialisations.

The governor's office had asked the university for an explanation for the delay in declaring the MCom results.

In his note, the governor asked Vice Chancellor Rajan Welukar to tell him what action the university was "proposing to take to declare the results without any further delay." He also directed Welukar "to clarify what steps the university will take to avoid such delays."

According to the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994, results must be declared within 30-45 days after exam ends. Officials blamed the delay on a shortage of faculty members. But late on Wednesday, V-C met the controller of examinations and MCom evaluators. "We will announce the results as per the specialisations... The results of some specialisations will be out in two to three days," he said.
