Observing that prima facie there was substance in the allegations made by a convict of being tortured in police custody, the Bombay High Court has admitted his petition on Wednesday.

Dilip Wadkar, a convict lodged at Ratnagiri prison, had sent a letter to the high court through his father Kisan Wadkar that he was tortured in police custody.
Wadkar, convicted in a murder case, was released on parole on February 13, 2009. While on parole, police arrested him on charges of robbery. It was then that he was allegedly tortured.
