About 73 employees of St George Hospital have written to chief minister Prithiviraj Chavan and other officials asking them to take action against the hospital superintendent.

They allege superintendent Dr CG Gaikwad is “corrupt and mentally harasses them”.
They want him either suspended or transferred to another hospital. The signatories include deputy superintendent, matron, principal of the nursing college, doctors, ward boys and a visually disabled telephone operator.
“Many among us were unnecessarily tortured. Even senior doctors are supporting us,” said a hospital employee who did not want to be named.
Denying the charges, Dr Gaikwad said: “It is a biased letter. As an administration officer, I have to be stern with my juniors. No corruption charge against me is true.”
Dr TP Lahane, dean of JJ hospital, said, “We will set up an inquiry based on the letter.”
