The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday made two more arrests in the assets case involving Nagpur Income Tax Commissioner Ajoy Kumar Singh, reports HT Correspondent .

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday made two more arrests in the assets case involving Nagpur Income Tax Commissioner Ajoy Kumar Singh.

The agency arrested Singh’s sister Shanti Kumari (57) and her husband Subhash Chandra Kumar (61) from Hyderabad. They will be brought to Mumbai on Wednesday and produced before a special CBI court.

According to the agency, these two would stash Singh’s undisclosed money in their bank and post office savings accounts. During investigations, it found that Kumari had allegedly deposited Rs 6 lakh in a savings account at Deshmukh Marg post office in Mumbai.

She had also deposited

over Rs 12,930 in Syndicate Bank at Tardeo.

The CBI also discovered Rs 3 lakh deposited in Kumar’s savings account at the Deshmukh Marg post office, and Rs 19,676 in his Syndicate Bank account.

In another development, the CBI filed a 40-page summary chargesheet against Singh, his wife Mrinalika, 12 of his relatives and his charted accountant Kartik Kothari. They have all been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Singh and Mrinalika were produced before the special CBI court. Immediately after the court remanded both of them to judicial custody, they filed a bail application saying judicial custody was not required.
