‘I was not allowed to enter home’

Gomes met his lawyer on Monday afternoon and told him that the non-governmental organisation that had ‘rescued’ his daughters and wife was not allowing him to enter his flat.

Gomes later lodged a complaint with the Manickpur police station against the NGO, Anand Rehabilitation Centre. The police are yet to take any action in the case.

“Gomes approached me, stating the reason why he had gone missing. He added that the NGO officials are threatening and harassing him and not allowing him to enter the flat,” said Bhushan Gujjar, the advocate representing Gomes.

“It’s a gross violation of human rights and a criminal offence to stop prevent somebody from staying in his own home,” added Gujjar.

Gomes is staying at an undisclosed location, he said.

Gujjar said his client no longer needs to go for psychiatric treatment to KEM hospital, as has been directed by the the Thane magistrate court.

“My client disclosed to me that the doctor at Thane jail had examined his mental health and declared him mentally balanced” Gujjar said.
