India's first double-decker flyover opens in Mumbai

Motorists hoping to save time while taking the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR), which was opened to public on Friday, would have to crawl through certain sections as the traffic police have imposed a speed limit of 30kmph on the bridges, along with some other restrictions to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Motorists hoping to save time while taking the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR), which was opened to public on Friday, would have to crawl through certain sections as the traffic police have imposed a speed limit of 30kmph on the bridges, along with some other restrictions to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

“The maximum speed limit for all types of vehicles will be only up to 30kms per hour on all the bridges,” read a statement issued by the traffic police. The other restrictions include no stopping and parking along the entire stretch of SCLR bridge.

Traffic police also barred entry and movement of heavy vehicles except BEST, ST buses, which also includes any bus carrying passengers. Bicycles, tricycles and auto-tricycles used by disabled persons, animal carts and hand-pulled carts and pedestrian movement on SCLR bridge from Chedda Nagar, Mother Dairy, Nehru Nagar, Kurla (East), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Tilak Nagar as well as from the road connecting SCLR from Amar Mahal junction and Shanta Jog Marg have also been banned.

The traffic police have put cautionary and informatory sign boards to guide motorists and pedestrians about these rules. Traffic police staff has been posted at these places to render assistance and ensure that no inconvenience is caused to commuters.
